DESCRIPTION:Rasmus Lerdorf is known for having gotten the PHP project off t
he ground in 1995. He is also a member of the Apache Server core developme
nt team and a member of the Apache Foundation board of directors\, and has
contributed to a number of other open source projects over the years. He
has also been an engineer at Yahoo! He was born in Greenland\, grew up in
Denmark and Canada and has a Systems Design engineering degree from the Un
iversity of Waterloo. Mr. Lerdorf is a frequent speaker on PHP and Open So
urce at conferences around the world.\n\nThere has been a lot of interest
in PHP performance lately spurred by Facebook\'s HipHop PHP announcement i
n February. Most people don\'t know how fast their site is and will make u
ninformed architecture decisions or spend time optimizing the wrong things
based mostly on myths and innuendo. This talk will try to get you started
down the path of a systematic approach to benchmarking\, profiling and op
timizing your entire web site. If there is time and interest\, we\'ll have
a look at Web security as well. Most of the concepts covered are not PHP-
specific\, but I will of course be using PHP to illustrate concepts.\n\nFo
